Summary

How will it be possible in the future to keep the balance of supply and demand of electric energy and to operate the power system in a stable, efficient, and economical way? In the research project «Local Load Management», concepts and methods were developed which enable the load to actively contribute to these goals. The considered methodologies constitute a system for the intelligent control of electric appliances, as well as distributed storage devices, and generation units. Control structures and algorithms were developed and simulated, e.g. for the minimization of schedule deviations by actuating aggregated residential loads. The locally needed infrastructure was tested in a household.
