Summary
The objective of the ThinPV project was to generate a new collaborative research effort in the field of thin film photovoltaics in Switzerland. With a view to achieve breakthroughs in thin film PV device efficiency and low-cost production processes. The project comprised two main parts, the first being oriented towards the understanding, control and improvement of thin film silicon plasma deposition processes. The second part addressed the combination of the emerging dye sensitized solar cell and chalcogenide based solar cell technologies in order to achieve hybrid tandem cells with high efficiency. Workshops and conferences were organized to promote scientific exchange.
