Technologies for Gas Turbine Power Generation with CO2 Mitigation
Summary
The aim of this project is to examine the highly promising technology paths to the ultimate objective of zero-emissions electricity production using fossil fuels. The focus is on "post-combustion" methods which extract the CO2 following the combustion process. Using thermo-economic modelling methods, a competitive process will be selected for zero-emissions fossil-fuel-fired gas turbines. The CO2 prevention costs of the selected process must be below EUR 20/tCO2. Quantitative targets for the individual process components will be derived from the models. In turn, technical examinations with regard to combustion and air separation processes will provide important information on ways of improving and validating the modelling approaches.Project start
